Discovery
Most of the figures we publish are not breaking news. They are figures buried in documents that almost nobody reads. Earnings calls, regulatory filings, government budget appendices, audited financial statements. Our work begins where most reporting stops.
Extraction
Once a candidate figure is identified, it is extracted with its full surrounding context: the document, the page, the paragraph, the accounting basis, the reporting period, the currency, the unit.
Comparison
The single hardest step in producing a record is identifying what it replaces. A figure on its own is not a record. A figure that exceeds a defined previous benchmark is a record.
Translation
A number alone communicates very little. Our translation step converts every record into at least three human-readable comparisons.
Publication
Every record passes through editorial review before it goes live. The reviewer checks the primary source citation, the classification, the previous benchmark, the comparative framing, and the final published prose.
